The Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery was founded in 1999 within the Faculty of Medicine of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University. Since its establishment, its aim has been to provide physicians and specialist candidates with modern clinical and surgical skills as well as contemporary theoretical knowledge.
Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery is one of the fastest developing medical fields today. Being open to high technology and individual creativity makes this branch one of the scientific branches of the future. ZBEÜ Faculty of Medicine, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery continues to serve science as well as patients in accordance with this understanding. In our clinic, services are provided in the following areas and scientific studies are carried out in these areas.
Reconstructive Surgery: Reconstructive surgery is one of the basics of plastic surgery. It is the repair of tissue deficiencies that occur after reconstruction, injury or tumor removal operations by using the patient's own tissues. This repair may include different components such as skin, muscle, cartilage, bone, nerve tissue. Apart from injury and tumor surgery, the repair of diabetic foot, pressure sores and vascular diseases, as well as deformities due to burns, are performed within the scope of reconstruction principles. For the purpose of reconstruction, plastic surgery can work as a team in the treatment of almost every surgical branch and different regions.
Skin and Soft Tissue Cancers: Treatment of all types of skin cancers, especially basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma, and the treatment of soft tissue tumors are of interest to plastic surgery. Within this treatment, sentinel lymph node biopsy and lymph node dissection are also performed.
Hand Surgery: Hand injuries (tendon, vessel, nerve cuts, and amputation), nerve compression, Dupuytren's disease, rheumatoid arthritis surgery, congenital anomalies are the field of hand surgery. Plastic surgery plays an active role in the treatment of all these diseases and injuries.
Maxillofacial Surgery: It is one of the main areas of plastic surgery. Facial injuries with tissue loss such as all kinds of facial bone fractures, skin and bone defects, cuts and congenital anomalies of the facial nerve, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint diseases, and reconstruction of all regions of the face are the fields of maxillofacial surgery and therefore plastic surgery.
Congenital Anomalies: There are many congenital anomalies treated in plastic surgery. Among these, operations such as cleft lip and palate, congenital skull disorders-craniosynostosis, congenital absence of ear-microtia, congenital hand disorders (excess fingers-polydactyly, adherent fingers-syndactyly), urogenital anomalies (hypospadias-prophet circumcision) are performed.
Breast Surgery: Breast surgery is a field of plastic surgery in a wide spectrum from congenital anomalies of the breast to reconstruction after breast cancer. In addition to aesthetic surgery procedures of the breast such as breast augmentation and breast reduction, it also includes the treatment of breast enlargement called gynecomastia seen in male patients.
Facial Aesthetic Surgery: A wide range of facial plastic surgery procedures such as rhinoplasty, lower and upper eyelid aesthetic procedures, brow lift, face and neck lift, filler or fat injection to the face, wrinkle treatment with botulinum toxin, rejuvenation and tightening of the facial skin with skin peeling or laser procedures, prominent ear correction, and hair transplantation are performed. Plastic surgery aims to make patients look the age they feel with the holistic aesthetic view gained over the years.
Body Aesthetic Surgery: Aesthetic surgeries performed on the body include aesthetic procedures such as tummy tuck – abdominoplasty, arm lift-brachioplasty, thigh lift and fat removal-liposuction.
Plastic surgery offers a special treatment approach to each patient with its capacity to perform many operations in different areas of the body. Plastic surgery is a surgery of principles, which has a broad perspective and enables the development of patient-specific innovations, rather than a surgery for a specific part of the body.
