Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (ZBEÜ) Faculty of Medicine is proud to reach the 20th year in the Education and Training process with the start of the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Our faculty's pre-graduation medical education program is based on the basic competencies expected from a medical faculty graduate, based on national and international goals and objectives, student-centred, problem-solving and community-based, using valid learning and assessment-evaluation methods, horizontal and vertical according to organ systems in all periods. It has adopted a systematic training program involving integration. Pre-graduate medical education program; In accordance with the National Framework Education Program and the Bologna process, student and learning-oriented, containing priority health problems of the society, symptom and condition-based knowledge, skills and professional competencies are determined, in addition to the institutional courses, vocational elective and non-field elective courses are included in the period of basic medicine departments. In the medical sciences period, it is implemented as a program in which elective internships are included, program evaluation and updating methods are supported with the participation of internal and external stakeholders and with a quality-oriented approach.
Our aim is to educate “Physician", "Health Advocate", "Team Member", "Consultant", "Manager-Leader" To train "Scientist", "Communicator" "graduate of ZBEU Faculty of Medicine" and "Medical Doctor” who has adopted the "human first" approach serving the society in the field of health at national and international level as a target without giving up on the difficulties he/she will face while practicing his/her profession.
Our faculty had its first graduates in the 2005-2006 academic year. Upon graduation, our students are given a "Diploma Supplement" that complies with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) for their educational activities throughout their education. The faculty's regional and social collaboration activities in the fields of education, research and health are getting stronger day by day. Education is provided at international standards within the framework of national competencies in the education field. The diplomas of our graduates are valid all over the world. As a result of the evaluation of the National Medical Education Accreditation Board (UTEAK), our Undergraduate Medical Education Program of our faculty has been determined to meet the Turkish National Standards of Undergraduate Medical Education and the program has been accredited until 01.01.2024. Undergraduate Medical Education Program of our University supports both national and international student exchange programs. An Erasmus contract has been signed between our university and the Faculty of Medicine, especially Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy located in the city of Timusuara in Romania. An agreement was signed with the Faculty of Medicine of Astana University in Kazakhstan within the scope of Mevlana Exchange Program. In this way, our students can complete their education abroad without losing of a year, if they request one stage of their education. In addition, we have mutual agreements with 63 Medical Faculties in our country within the scope of the Farabi Program. In 2019-2020, a total of twelve students, three from Term 1, six from Term 2, one from Term 3, and two from Term 4, benefitted from the Farabi Exchange Program.
Our Faculty of Medicine still serves with 44 departments and 16 disciplines affiliated to Basic Medical Sciences, Internal Medical Sciences and Surgical Medical Sciences with social collaborative activities that stand out in the field of medical education, research and health at regional / national scale. As of December 2020, a total of 348 academic staff are working, including 59 professors, 19 associate professors, 64 doctor lecturers, 2 specialist physicians and 204 research assistants. 925 "Medical Doctors" and 513 "Specialists" have been trained in our Faculty of Medicine until today. Our faculty is preferred by students who are successful in the Basic Proficiency and Field Proficiency Exams held every year and get high scores. Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Health Application and Research Centre, where applied trainings are given during the Clinical Sciences Period and health services are also provided to the society, is also within the Ibni Sina Campus where our faculty is located. Our faculty, which closely monitors and implements developments in the field of medicine and technology, offers quality-oriented education, research and health services on the basis of regional and national requirements with the Health Application and Research Centre, which has many advanced facilities.
Our main expectation from our students is that they gain the graduation competencies determined by our faculty at the end of their education and training period. In addition, our other expectations are that they devote themselves serve the society properly at every moment of their lives, that they do not neglect respect, love and tolerance in their communication with faculty and friends, and that they know the bio-psycho-social and cultural approach is very important when approaching the patient in health care delivery. Our education and training activities continue in full during the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic process, which affects the whole world and our country. I wish the 2020-2021 academic year to bring health, happiness and success to all our students.
