Quality Assurance System at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Medicine

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Medicine has adopted a comprehensive quality assurance system designed to achieve the strategic objectives outlined in alignment with its mission, vision, and core values, as well as the results from the corporate self-assessment. This system aims to facilitate the continuous improvement of the faculty’s educational, research, and development activities, with a particular focus on regional and national contributions. The faculty aspires to be an effective, efficient, competitive, and entrepreneurial institution at both the national and international levels. The ultimate goal is to improve the management system qualitatively and quantitatively in line with institutional priorities.


In this context, the faculty has embraced the national quality assurance system, which is aligned with international standards such as the ESG 2015 (European Standards and Guidelines). This system was developed as part of the Bologna Process, which brought reforms to the European Higher Education Area, a principle that Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University has adopted. By combining this international framework with its own regional and national cultural values, the faculty has created a robust quality assurance system. The system is based on a quality-oriented management approach, and all activities are conducted in compliance with international standards and relevant legal regulations. The system also emphasizes continuous improvement and sustainability, with regular monitoring and evaluation involving both students and all internal and external stakeholders.

 

Key Activities of the Faculty:

To continue student-centered educational activities. 

To improve the structure, content, and learning/assessment-evaluation processes of the undergraduate medical education program. 

To ensure national and international accreditation for both undergraduate and postgraduate education programs.

To enhance the research facilities of the faculty and increase the number of high-impact competitive publications.

To continuously update the institutional services provided by the faculty.

To ensure the active participation of all stakeholders in the quality assurance processes.

To adopt a participatory management approach, grounded in continuous evaluation and improvement.

To provide healthcare services in accordance with international standards that prioritize patient rights and satisfaction.

To educate graduates who possess the skills to access and adapt to new information.

To foster a sense of belonging and pride within the university.

To ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.

 

Principles of the Quality Assurance System:


The principles underlying this quality assurance system, which is owned by all faculty members, are as follows:

Ensuring the satisfaction of all stakeholders, particularly students.

Adopting a process-oriented approach to operations management.

Fostering a culture of continuous improvement through regular reviews.

Ensuring the effective utilization of resources.

 

Quality Assurance Targets:


The faculty has set the following quality targets:

Ensuring active involvement of academic and administrative staff, students, and external stakeholders in the quality assurance processes.

Anticipating potential problems in the quality assurance processes and taking necessary measures to address them.

Preventing all forms of discrimination in employment and the work environment, in line with Article 10 of the Turkish Constitution, which stipulates that "Everyone is equal before the law, without discrimination due to language, race, color, gender, political opinion, philosophical belief, religion, sect, or similar reasons."

Strict adherence to the principles outlined above.

Continuously updating, disclosing, and making transparent the quality assurance processes, ensuring their accessibility to all stakeholders, and maintaining a tradition of internal and external stakeholder participation.
