Medical Pathology

Education

Medical students have training in Pathology during the second and third years of their education period which lasts for 6 (six) years. In phase II and phase III, theoretical and practical lectures are given. During the fifth phase, they can choose as an elective internship, and they are given information about the functioning and practical applications of the pathology laboratory.

In addition, Pathology courses are given in the undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Dentistry, the undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Nursing and Physiotherapy graduates of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Ahmet Erdoğan Vocational School of Health Services, Medical Pathology Technician and Podology associate degree programs.

Specialization Training in the field of Medical Pathology is 4 (four) years in line with the relevant laws and regulations. During the specialization training process; research assistants first observe the fixation, follow-up, sectioning and staining processes of the materials, frozen section studies and participate in macroscopic studies. They are then taken into the routine evaluation program of biopsy and cytology materials. According to their capability for advanced laboratory techniques, they participate in the applications about histochemistry etc. Pathology research assistants also attend articles, seminars and case presentation meetings; In addition to multidisciplinary clinicopathological meetings with various departments, they also actively participate in scientific publication studies.
