Mission and Vision

Mission

The Department of Anatomy will provide high quality teaching of Anatomical Sciences to Medical Students and other students in other faculties as needed.  The Department will conduct basic research and will foster an intellectual environment that encourages a sense of inquiry. Department will maintain a working environment conducive to the professional and personal well-being of every member and it will promote academic relationships with other  Departments that will help achieve the goals of teaching and research excellence.

Vision

To achieve highest standard of imparting knowledge of Anatomy.

To train scientists who can follow up-to-date scientific data.

Education

Our department carries out the anatomy of the movement system (bones, joints and muscles) in Term 1, which is included in the integrated education and training program of the Faculty of Medicine, and all other systems other than the movement system in Term 2 as theoretical and practical lessons in a topographic manner. Elective Clinical Anatomy course is also included in the curriculum for Term 5 medical students. In addition, our department gives theoretical and practical courses on anatomy to the Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences and Ahmet Erdoğan Health Services Vocational School.

Anatomy residency training is 3 years within the scope of medical specialty education. Specialization students in Medicine also perform Histology and Embryology, Radiology and Forensic Medicine rotations. Postgraduate education includes Master's in Anatomy program with thesis and Doctor of Philosophy in Anatomy program. Seminar and article hours are held on certain days of the week during an academic year in the department.
